The project is called "Six in Studio;" this is a juried opportunity for 6 artists to spend a month inside the CWAL studio together, creating work in close quarters. The artists start working on the Third Friday in March (3/15) and finish the Third Friday in April (4/19). At the end of their creative time together, the finished work is displayed in a DIY exhibition which they hang or install themselves.
Artists this year are: Stephanie Maniaci, Thom Rossino, Mallorie Freeman, Eileen Matias, Debra Purcell, and Stephanie Streeter.
It all starts with an Open Studio Day on Friday March 15, from 6-10pm, when gallery-goers can watch the work begin.
Then, each Sunday afternoon (starting March 17), artists will have access to the studio from 12-5pm to create a work or body of works.
The final exhibiton will be Friday March 19 from 6-10. See what the artists have accomplished with their studio time!
Our project juror this year was Robert Thurmer, director of the CSU Art Galleries.

CWAL is proud to present an amazing exhibition of two artists, both working with conglomerations of figures and objects; colorful and organic with various elements of pop culture, religion, folklore, history and everything in between.
Prior to this exhibit, Arlo Moon and Rafael Valdivieso have never met nor known of each other's works. Yet the similar styles they create execute a chaotic harmony of imagination that will meet for the first time here. Like water and earth, their works will collide and compliment each other to develop a new world only to be seen in Populous Landscapes.
With over 20 paintings and sculptures, this is an artistic experience not to miss!
Arlo Moon is a Columbus artist from Portland, Oregon and
Rafael Valdivieso is a Cleveland Heights artist from Quito, Ecuador.
Opening night and artist reception: Friday, September 21st 6-10pm
Closing reception: Friday, October 19, 6-10pm

CWAL will have a FREE drop-in art workshop throughout the afternoon for children in grades K-12. We will be creating sun prints using photo-sensitive paper and a variety of plants, toys, and household objects.
This workshop is a great introduction to the science of darkroom photography, and is being held in conjunction with our current photography and video exhibition, “The Light and the Shadow.”
Drop in anytime during the afternoon to view the exhibition and participate in the workshop. Use the items we provide for your sun print design, or bring your own!
