CWAL's first exhibition, its maiden voyage, so to speak, will not be held within the confines of a gallery, but suspended high above the Cuyahoga River. Line of Sight - The Bridge Span Mural Project, was the brainchild of show organizer Mona Gazala. "I took an exploratory tour of the Detroit Superior Bridge's lower level back in March, wondering if there was a site that would inspire an art piece for IngenuityFest. And the plywood walkway going across the span was just screaming for an artist's touch." Inspired by a recent visit to Urban Scrawl, a plywood mural festival that takes place in Columbus Ohio, Mona proposed and was granted permission to organize twenty artists, from Cleveland, Oberlin, Athens, and Columbus to join in a mural painting session on the walkway.
Line of Sight will be on view during IngenuityFest 2010, September 24 - 26. See http://ingenuitycleveland.com/ for more about IngenuityFest.
